Tuning a Subwoofer?

I know that this is kinda a dumb question to ask... but it should inform all of us not-so-knowing people.... how exactly do you tune a subwoofer to a Frequency(Hz)

Like people say... "yea.. he had his 12 tuned at 32Hz... it was b**chin"

You dont tune a subwoofer

its not tuning the subwoofer its tuning the box that the subwoofer is in to that specific frequency

So when someone says they're tuned at 40Hz how much CU FT is that for a 12 inch sub??? and being tuned just means that thats the loudest frequency you have??? or the subwoofer resonates best at that frequency???

when someone says that, they have a box with a vent in it, that is a certain lenght with a certain amount of port area, in a certain size box....Go to the box section and read the stickys for a more in depth description

correct, a sealed enclosure is just that sealed...no vent
