tuneing for ported box......

Sup guys, goin to build another box for my 12" xxx currently it's tuned to 32hz, i was thinking of tuneing it to 28-30hz range... is that a good idea or should i bump it up to 35hz, right now it's 2.5cf of airspace, think i'm goin to bump that up also to 3cf after displacement.......... all ideas are welcome

Saosin, do you like your xxx. The SQ, the SPL. A few peeps on the board are misinformed due to having sub par installs. Carlify for them.

Do you want it to be louder or are you looking for a little extra on the low end? Going from 32 to 28 would not make that big of a difference. What is wrong with your current set-up.

there is a few leaks in the box, tried to seal it up but not working, um i wanna shoot for sql, i have had a couple of strictly spl setups and i def. want some sq with loudness, since i just installed my ipod into my car i like ALL kinds of music, ranging from rap, techno, and rock, oh yeah can't forget the 80's lol

yes i love my XXX, it's really loud but i know it can get louder cuz of some of my air leak problems

I would tune to around 28hz with a good amount of port area 24 inches or more...with no airleaks. Brace the box throughout and make the baffle double thickness.
