Trying to install a channel but 1 set of preamp output

Just like the title says. i heard about the y cords but wouldnt that take away from the signal. how do others do this.

wha? so you headunit only has one subwoofer rca output? run that wire to the mono input on the amp boom done

naw its got 2 sets. 1 set is being used for the sub amp. The other is the front set. But the problem being that idk how i can run a 4 channel on that? and i dont completely understand what you just said
