Trying to hold da black man down!

original article posted, people came out gunz blazing with reverse racist retorts blah blah blah, then the legal aspect of if u have to comply to police on your own property came up, then more racial stuff, and here we are. the thread's cooled off alot
pretty much covers it.

the cops could have handled things different im sure but its at their discretion. although the same goes for gates. none of us know the whole story and probably never will. if it happened as the origial article read it wasnt about race until the comment gates made:

"Why, because I'm a black man in America?"
from that point on theres no way it wouldnt have been in the news.

It was at night form what I gathered in the first article.

And about what penn said about having good dialogue between races. This couldn't be a better point to make when regarding race relations. Whites and Blacks, in the big picture, just don't talk to each other that much. Especially when you're talking about predominantly white or black schools...there's definitely a divide between the majority race and the minority race(generally speaking).

I went to Memphis for AAU nationals(basketball) when I was 13. I joined the Dallas Mustangs, an all black team(majority inner city Dallas kids...not very well off), just before leaving. As I was talking to one of my teammates for about a half hour, he told me that it was the first time he had ever really had a conversation with a white kid. I found that pretty amazing, and kinda sad at the same time...I've played ball all my life, so I had pretty much been the minority when it came to my teammates. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

throwing the race card out there right away is exactly the same thing. "this white cop is asking me questions, he hates blacks"
i'm sure there is some racial profiling, but i don't hear anyone sticking up for all the long haired white metal heads who also get pulled over for looking a certain way. or white bikers. or the white trash driving a rusted out 1977 ford truck. profiling isn't only done by race. i see your point

for everyone thats saying gates was not wrong or whatever. looks like he pulled the race card on the wrong person.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The white police sergeant criticized by President Barack Obama for arresting black scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. in his Massachusetts home is a police academy expert on racial profiling.
Cambridge Sgt. James Crowley has taught a class on racial profiling for five years at the Lowell Police Academy after being hand-picked for the job by former police Commissioner Ronny Watson, who is black, said Academy Director Thomas Fleming.
even Obama made himself look like a complete ass in this one

win for whitey.
just looks more damaging for the one who threw out the race crap which makes him look like the one that was profiling the white cop. that and if it was based on race why isnt the black officer doing anything in the picture.

gates was and is wrong. along with thinking because he is "special" and that hes black he needs preferential treatment.

title should be changed to

"black man holding himself down"

Nga shoulda showed him his license, not got all ignant on the mofo.
doesnt sound like something thats to hard to do. of course now the idiot wants to be in the spotlight even more with a civil suit. its time that something like this blows up in his face.
