Trying to hold da black man down!

the n-word is derogatory when whites use it(hell even when we use it)..but its our word (i know this gonna get flamed)but its true
n-word shouldn't be used at all. My parents gave me a name, I make sure people have enough respect for me to call me by my name. People that don't respect themselves let others call them the n-word

you have a just point, but the military has to be sensitive how they treat minorities because of their reputation with minorities in the past. Is that your fault? of course not, but it is what it is. It was well documented the way black soldiers were treated as less than during WWII and the korean war. So reports say black soldiers were treated worse than the war opposition and pOWs
i agree somewhat. these days its not so much how they were treated in the past. its the fact that just like this man. if someone doesnt like something the race card is the first to get pulled. it never fails. scream racisim and its over.

see now you would be a "black" person i would have no problem with. you sound just like my good friend Harris from when i was in the army. he was as dark as they come but who cares. he was an awsome guy and a great friend. black in quotes since race shouldnt be an issue.

and how you got to this conclusion is because we dialogued, which is my major point. Race relations would be so much better if we talked to one another on an open, honest level. A lot of people with deep racial resentments usually have much in common with the people they blindly dislike. Its so sad to me, but that's how America is

i do think a lot of that comes from the way young black men/women are brought up. the same goes for plenty of whites to though. if you are raised with hate or taught that someone is out to get you or whatever then you know as well as i do. those people arent going to want to take the time to get to know anyone. they fall back on what they were raised with.

"that person hates me"

"that person thinks they are better than me"

and so on

i read the 1st 3 pages and this page.................. if the woman who called the cops on dr. gates is close enough to see the "crime in progress", she lives close enough to know who lives there already. i'm sure he didn't just move there 2 months ago and nobody knows him, plus he's famous as hell.

a very valid point that nobody has mentioned.

i was wondering where u been at during this whole thread.

that has more to do with a lack of adequate legal representation. Govt appointed counsel usually doesn't care enough to get a good verdict or sentence for their clients. So I would venture to say that's more of a representation/class issue than race issue
but why is there a lack of legal representation...money....why dont most of have money? we cant get well paying jobs...not mention we get falsely arrest ALOT in the first place...im not trying to say perfect, but some of these posters are completely ignorant to our struggle....i guess im al sharpton of ca.com lol

original article posted, people came out gunz blazing with reverse racist retorts blah blah blah, then the legal aspect of if u have to comply to police on your own property came up, then more racial stuff, and here we are. the thread's cooled off alot
