***Sorry I know it's probably been covered, I searched for an hour and couldn't really get a definitive answer.***

***I also know this is long...just skim***

I'm currently very happy with my system, it's listed in my sig. I think everything balances very well and blends seamlessly! However, now that it's been summer for a while and I'm riding around, windows down, music thumping, I'm noticing a lack of output from my single Dayton 10. During the winter and spring/fall, it's the perfect mix of output and accuracy as well as SQ. Right now though, I want a little more bump...I'm sure you guys know what I mean.

I was thinking of either a 12 or 15. Immediately coming to mind were the BTL, FiQ, Icon, IDMax, etc, but I have NO background in big bass sub systems whatsoever, so I turn to you.

Don't be mistaken, I don't want to go purely SPL now, nor do I have the amps to do so. I would still like to retain a good mix of SQ and output. I really just want to have a more PRONOUNCED substage with the ability to get lower and really feel my music with the windows down on the freeway. Then when summer ends, I'll swap out my big sub for my Dayton for the SQ winter driving //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Restrictions: I only have a PDX1.600 to power this thing with. It birthed at 678wRMS, but I know that's still not much for pounding bass. I also only have about $250-300 to work with for the sub, I'm going to build my own box I think. I also don't have MUCH space to work with. I drive a Scion tC and I'd prefer to still have a little bit of my trunk left lol.

Thanks in advance guys!

EDIT: Almost forgot, I might be getting a hold of a PDX1.1000 for my sub...but it's questionable.

How about building a second box with a higher tuning and adjusting your EQ to the way you want it? It would certainly save you a couple hundred on something you may not even need.

I wouldn't mind that at all, but a single 10 can only get so low right? Even in the right box, the Dayton is still going to be more biased toward SQ methinks.

Thanks for all of your opinions though guys //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

10's can get low....that is a myth:fyi:

Call me crazy, but why not just get a second HO10? Two of these will fit in a box the same size as any of the single 12's you're looking at and should be twice as loud as one.

You're not crazy, I've thought about it. But I don't think 2 HO10's on 300RMS each will be much louder than my single on 600RMS. I was looking for another single that can get louder/lower on the same wattage.

3dB louder for two with the same power. 115 to 118 according to WinISD without taking cabin gain into consideration, fwiw.
It's 3db louder to run two, each with 300RMS than just one with 600RMS?

Is 3db even that big of a difference in my setup? I can see the jump from 149-152 in a SPL competition being a big deal, but I dunno man.
