Trying to Figure out Which Route to Take

Greetings all,

I came across this site while searching for ideas for box design. I own a Scion Xa which most of you know has a tiny trunk. Im a carpenter by trade so i wanted to try and build my own to fit one on each side so the middle is still opened. Heres my questions:

What size subs should I get? I listen to rock and some metal so im looking more for clarity then BOOM.

Would it be possible to get a small amp for each sub and have it mounted to the box?

Should i change the speakers in the doors as well?

Where can I go to see how a box should be put together?

8"s or 10"s would work best. and since your a carpenter im shure you can figure out how to build a box, that will fit where you want it to go.

the xa can fit a good size 12, and still have space on one side..

i had the XA (rest in peace) with 3x12's ported in the rear, below the seat line, get rid of that spare tire.
