trying to figure out what box to get

ok ive got 2 kicker 12" L7's running with a jbl gto 1201.1 im lookin for a box to put them in to go into the trunk of my 94 camaro, small trunk...i would like to go ported, i like the deep sound etc etc but space is a big problem...the people at hifi buys(who are out for my money) said i should go vented insted ported...i have built boxes before but this one is going to be much more difficult....since i am going to need all the space i can get...

i think i have toooo many option i could:

A) spend $300 to get the custom box made(not my best option-tight on cash)

B) go sealed and only spend 80 on the box - looks like this http://cardiscountstereos.com/catalog%20page.asp?Product+%23=CAMARONEW212 (this is why it would be hard to build, all the angles and pieces of wood needed plus all the porting stuff to go along with it)

C) attemp to build a box and fail misrebly haha

D) Get some port tubes to put into the OPTION B, the sealed box, just a few questions when it comes to these "tubes" can they be bent and by that i mean say i only have 4 inches of room till i hit wood(like to the left/right of the 2 subs goes down to wood), can i make a 90 degree angle of the tube inside the box to allow for more tube inside the box, similar to a slot port where theres the 90 degree angle? would this affect the sound of the box? and do these port tubes have alot of port noise? will they be very similar to having a ported box?

1) sealed goes deep

2) vented = ported

3)because your local dealer suggested you go vented instead of ported, not realizing that the terms are synonymous, they probably haven't a clue on how to design a ported box correctly.

4)i'd take pride in your system, and choose "C"

5)if you choose "A", make sure you dont let them design the box.

ported, done in your garage. learn the most and when people start sayin how loud ur setup is, be like "its all in the install, and i did everything myself by hand".

Well I've heard them subs from the day they first came out with them, and if you do a sealed box you'll be mad at yourself, ported is the way to go, however the best spl I heard the box was very big,1 12 L7 in a box that had to be 3.5 cu.ft. go on line and see what kicker has to say about the air space good luck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

yah thats my only worry, not having enough space....and i do want a ported box dont get me wrong i love the spl factor just thinking that buliding it to fit to my trunk would be extra hard, thats why i was wanting to buy the sealed box at first and turn it into a ported box with some port tubes, and save me a lot of time and effort of building it with all the pieces just for the slot port....would the slot port make it a whole lot louder then round port tubes?

on the ported or sloted box it's the same thing but the slots don't make noise

well can you bend a tube port on the inside? similar to a slot port and have it bend at a 90 degree angle? can port tubes be put on the sides of the boxes instead of just the face of the box? would it be a good idea to get the sealed box, and then turn it into a ported box with port tubes?

I would ask someone on here (these people know their shit a lot better then the dipshit at the store) to design you some kick *** plans for 5-10 bucks ask them for something simple and see if u can go by some MDF and build one yourself.

The guy said that he heard one L7 in a big box make a good system. Maybe since ur worried about your trunk being to small, build a bigger box for one of them instead of 2 smaller boxes for each. But i could be wrong i'm just starting to learn.

thing about my trunk is that if you want to utilize all the space, your going to have to use angles, plus all the different sizes of wood, it was hard enough for me to make your typical rectangular box

PM me some dimensions that you have to work with and I'll let you know within the next day or so if you've got the space to go ported. Also, despite whether or not you have the space, I can design a box for you and even build it if need be.
