Trying to add sub+amp to my girlfriend's 2001 Escape

I want to keep the stock head unit, but I don't know how to..

A: Get at the back of the HU to see if there's any RCA outputs to run a signal to the sub amp

B: Hook up a line out converter or something to get the signal to the sub amp somehow.

Should I just buy a cheap sub crossover and split one of the speaker outputs from the HU and run the wire to the crossover and then to the amp?

HELP! I'm lost!!

I want to do this as a graduation present for her, so help ASAP would be nice

saloc converter, converts speaker output from the standard headunit to either one pair of pre-out rca's or even two.

Alright, I was thinking something along those lines.

I would only need one, right? How would I hook it up? Just find the speaker wire and splice into that?

you only need one. find the rear speaker wire and splice into it. as for taking out the stock headunit of an Escape, search online.

Also its real easy to hook up. Just tap each wire into the rear speaker wires.

Black stripe is usually negative.

u wont need to take out the factory headunit, which is really nice and will save u some time. Tap the rear speakers and for the remote, find a acc. wire that turns off with the car.

hey i have a car like this...is urs yello?...lol...but as for the head unit...yours has a cd player?!? man mine didnt...well the tape deck one doesnt have rcas at the back

if it has 2 small holes on the sides of the radio, just get some ford keys at walmart lik3 ($3-4) and out comes the radio.

if not, the dash piece around it should just pop off
