Truth?

There's so much flat wrong info in that thread that I feel dumber for having read it.
"If you do ground directly to the battery, I'd recommend fusing your ground wire. The reason for this is that if the stock ground strap from the battery to the body were to come disconnected or get pinched/cut somehow, the amp chassis and ground wire become the new ground path back to the battery. First time you try to start the car the amp goes up in smoke, and possibly the wiring as well. The fuse might not save your amp, but it would prevent the wiring from becoming overloaded and starting a fire."

I lol'ed. Wonder how many people ran out and fused their ground wire after reading this.

Should I go out and disconnect my cars ground wire from the battery (while leaving my amp wires hooked up) just to prove those idiots wrong?

i have no batterin the the stock loction anymore. all of mine are in the trunk. and all 3 of my amps are grounded to the batteries. i also have positives and grounds running from my alternator to my batteries. and a ground from the alt to frame and batteries to frame. i also compete in both sq and spl. and guess what when i ran a new ground from my batteries to the alt i gained .5 db without picking up any noise until i put an eq in. no if i disconect my rca's from eq to hu i have no noise. (eq only controls sub). i am a firm beleiver in a dedicated ground is better. also i did unhook my fram ground from the batteries just to test the dedicated ground and my score didn't budge.

Chassis ground ftw //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
