It happens every so often, but I cant play some songs with out it happening. (I got a question by Project Pat opens it every **** time) it has opened during the rain plenty of times and its getting risky. I'm sure i'm not the only one with this problem.. Could someone give me ideas on how to keep that **** trunk closed?

Thanks!!

What vehicle is it?
1995 LeSabre, the trunk switch is electronic :| Unplugged the switch and have been using my key, but its not helping lol

Take out the struts that lift the trunk lid...you wouldn't have anything to keep the lid open (maybe keep a stick in the trunk? lol) but it certainly wouldn't be able to open by itself.

Is the latch not engaging all the way? I had 2 cavaliers and both of them between NY salt/snow/rain and subs in the trunk broke and or rotted the arm that the latch locks into.

It just sort of... Unlatches, and opens with the bumps in the road lol.. I think it has some crazy springs system or something.. :\

I can pull as hard as I can when the trunks closed and it wont open for the life of me... But put some bass to it and pop Q_Q

I would pull the trunk liner out and see if maybe one of the springs has expanded too much or see if the latch arm might have some rotting that could make it move and unlatch.

The latch is actually easy to get to.. Ill take some pics and hit it with a hammer when I get off work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

There ya go lol. Give it shot of some WD40 too. Might not be locking all the way.

I was thinking it may not be latching, but **** it isn't rock solid with the sub stage off lol. If anything i'll pull out the springs that lift the trunk and disconnect the electrical from the latch.. Step by step..
Here's an oddball idea... could the ground of your amp be tied to the trunk release solenoid?

Id take the electronics lose at the latch and wrap electrical tape or velcro around the place where it latches to give it a little more grip.

Assuming it has a safety release latch, then I'm betting that's the problem. Had a Charger do that a few years ago, added a spring to put more tension on it and problem solved.
@maylar Its grounded to the wheel well.. Almost poked a hole in the gas tank drilling the hole hahahha

@Mitch86 and @mlstrass I think I solved the issue, I disconnected all of the electrical from the trunk latch and it hasn't opened. I assume that it was a (hot) switch, that it was always electrically charged.. Maybe making it looser??? So far it hasn't opened. Ill update if it does :(

Thanks a lot for the help!
