True RMS wattage of Type R's

Wel I want to get two 12" or 15" Type R 1242D subs.
Everthing says they are rated 500w RMS a piece but how much can they really take in a daily setup.

I'm hoping to run 800w RMS to each sub.

I just got one myself:D . but to answer your question, from what I read, alot of people around here run between 800-1000w, some run more, some run less. So they should be able to handle that without any problems;)

If those wattages are all PER SUBWOOFER then that's a good deal.

I want some earthquaking bass and just don't know if the TYPE R's will give me the loudest I want.

Which selection will give me a LOUD (think banshee) EARTHQUAKING bass response that I am looking for?

First comparison.....Two subwoofers in ported box.

Two Alpine SWR-1242D's

Two Alpine SWX-1242D's

Two Sound Splinter RL-p12's

Two Sound Splinter RL-p15's

Second comparison......

Two Alpine SWR-1242D's

One Alpine SWX-1242D

One Sound Splinter RL-p12 (4 ohm DVC)

One Sound Splinter RL-p15 (4 ohm DVC)

The car I am using is a 1995 cutlass ciera 4 dr (I only wish I could wall of the backseat).I plan on making a port/cut through in the rear deck between the 6" x 9"s and slapping some bass blockers on the 6"x9"s.

Amplifier will be a Lanzar OPTI2000D.

I'm looking for alot of SPL but sq is good...

could anyone rate the sub choices I have listed above into two categories, the first being SPL and the second category being SQ/SQL?

I run 2 1242's in 4.7 cubes @ 35hz. Giving them approx ~750w right now. I can tell they want more. Gonna throw a 2500D on em this summer and I'll bet you anything they'll take it like a champ.
