True or False:Getting hurt in a violent injury free care by hospital?

Is it true that if you get hurt in a violent injury and go to the hospital its free? Some guy smashed a bottle of captain morgan over my head on friday and I still have glass stuck in there and I want to get it out but I have no insurance and the bill is going to cost an arm and a leg. A friend of mine told me if i go it should be free anyone know any info on this?

no its not free. go get insurance, or pay the hospital bill. thats the risk you take for not carrying insurance, ya know.

what your friend was probably thinking about, was the part of the hypocratic oath that says that no doctor, or any hospital staff, can refuse to treat any life threatening injury, regaurdless of whether or not the individual has insurance or the financial backing to cover the cost.

no its not free. They cant refuse you medical care, but they can bill you for it and ruin your credit if you don't pay.

I didnt do anything i was just trying to break up a fight that my friend was involved in and the guy swung randomly at us and it happened to hit me.
