Truck/SUV Lift Questions

if you dont like how your truck rides..do a suspension lift. if you like how your truck rides goin down the road, get a body. if doing a body lift..would recommend gap guards. also body lifts are wwwaaayyyy cheaper. i wouldnt recommend a body lift for anything more than 3 inches tho. im probably gunna do it to my dakota soon too so let me know how it works out

but there are numerous more factors. just research it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Body lifts are cheaper yes, but a suspension lift is much better. Yes its expensive, but a body lift is more prone to break and makes your ride rougher. Plus its misaligns all of the accessories that are attached to the frame since it just lifts the body off of the frame. Brackets usually come to reposition, but they have to be weaker than the original connections. In the end you will be much happier with a suspension lift than a body lift if you are using it on your daily driver. Body lifts should be a last resort, but many times people don't want to pay for a suspension lift so they take the cheap route and it comes out much uglier since you can usually see the gap from the body lift at some point on the truck whether it be around the bumpers, in the fender wells, or somewhere else. Gap guards help, but IMO a body lift shouldn't be installed without a suspension lift. Just body lift usually looks horrible while a suspension lift can help alleviate some of the "ugliness".

x34209175435. and with body lifts you have to get into steering extensions and 4wd connector extensions and tho thats not a big deal in the beginning..they tend to fail down the road..steering becomes loose..4wd wont enguage if you have automatic 4wd, or itll pop out of 4x4 if its a manual transfer case first time you go over a slight bump.

aanndd with body lifts all your wiring from body to frame become more taught and as you hit bumps and whatnot it puts tension on the wiring more and more causing them to wear them out faster..or snap if a bunch of wires arent clustered together

definately. the new ones ****, and the old ones..the styling was way too plain. the interior on the 01-03s kick *** too. i love everything about my truck..except that its a 6 cyl..but its undergoing a 4.7 or 5.9 swap pretty soon. and mines a 4x4 so after the engine swap gives it some balls its gettin lifted. if you have any questions about anything ask me..i have the same truck. (durangos/dakotas are the same exact truck). those 4.7 v8s are so badass too.

EDIT: just dont plan on having a headunit where a motorized screen comes out..it wont clear the gear shifter.

I'd upgrade to a 4.7. The engines are solid anyways, and you can save a little more on gas too. Yes, I love the upgraded interior, which is why I want the 01-03's. Dakotas/Durangos in this year kick *** as far as styling.

if you can afford the suspension, definately go suspension lift over body lift. I went 3" body and 2" suspension because i couldnt afford the 4" susp lift for my generation of explorer. $1700 without wheels/tires was out of the question hehe.
