Truck Lid Amp Mounting?

Anyone ever mounted an amp top the truck lid? I have a cool place to mount my high amps but am stuck on where to mount my big mono... Any other suggestions or any reason I shouldnt mount it there?

i used to see it done in ricers and in show cars years ago. One thing to remember though is heat rises. And if your amp is upside down all the time it cant dissipate heat properly , the fets will radiate heat to the inside of the amp instead of to the heatsink. NOT GOOD!!

Very true! I have yet to get this amp warm thou... but I have only ran it at 2 ohms

another thing is the trunk lid is gonna be a very hot spot to begin with. It would look cool and i would totally do it in a show car , but not a DD.

it can work. better add compression shocks to keep the lid from slamming on you.

Found a goos spot to put my Warriors thou! Idk is I should use the Hawk or bridge the Eagle for the tweets thou...

Mount amps on top of each other with spacers or shelfs. mounting to trunk lid is not a good idea do to overheating an massive vibration. You can also mount a board at the rear of the trunk on the back of the tail lights and mount it.

if your set on mounting on the trunk lid, then you should think about this... Which amp runs more efficiant at your intended load. I would put the amp that is less likely to generate heat on the lid and but the others that will be a a lower impedance in an airconditioned space. If your not sealing off the trunk from the cab, then I would get some fans to channel the AC air into the trunk to help the lid mounted amp. Most likely your going to have to use thin layers of deadener to the lid, get some mounting points set up and the make sure your bottom amp vent have room to breath. After all that, you can use foan to fill in the areas that nee more deadener support. Is this a show car or something?

Keep in mind the is a big Mono lol... I may be able to get it to fit back by the lid somehow thou

I had 2 aq 2200s and a soundstream xxx 6500d ,ounted back there before.
