Trimming for vinyl

I know that places like 12vtools sells router bits just for this purpose, but is there any other way to do it? I really don't want to spend $90 on a router but I'm likely to only use once or twice.

pocket knife ?

To cut off 1/32" or 1/16" of 3/4" or 1/2" MDF? Don't think a pocket knife is going to work.

Oh you didnt say anything about cuting MDF lol , Prob going to need a router for that or pay a shop ?
