Tried my JL12w1 in a slot ported........

Bass Slammer box............I almost pissed myself. I had to back off the gains on my Alpine amp. I cant believe how Deep, Loud and Powerful it sounded. The installer and I were skeptical that the ported box would sound better than my sealed box.

He has 2 MTX 10's downfiring in his pickup truck with 600watts and he said mine wangs as much as his does.

LOL.....naw, been there done it.......My ears can barely take my measley 300watts system.

Ive heard the supper setups before.....too much for me. Im happy with what Ive got.

Actually 38Hz I believe. I dont know, but it sounds every bit as deep as my sealed box, except with 10x more depth and impact. The difference is significant.

So "sounds better" = louder?

My Single Downfire using 350 watt Assassin sounds WAY better than my single ported box. The Bass is way more accurate and clean. Especialy when listening to Rock or music with nice quick tight bass hits. Theres no frequency that is peaky and setup does not sound boomy.

In the ported setup (Tuned to 40 htz but then lowered by using the door as loading area) the woofer is nearly 2-3 times as loud. Sounds less clean when I listen to the same rock (Bass is not quite as tight and clean), but it is WAY WAY louder. So although the ported box might impress my friends, I would personaly just add a second sub. (The ported box would still probably be louder, but not by as much) However the setup with 2 subs would Sound Better.

Honestly......I really do understand what you are saying.........I liked my sealed setup and sound....but, it just didnt have the impact I wanted. The ported box I have now.....still sounds great (at least to me), but it has tremendous depth. Its like the whole sound system comes alive. This is coming from someone who gave up a ported box for the sealed box......well, by just experimenting with a different ported box, I realised I was losing alot of output, while not giving up any SQ.....at least to my ears.

I ran 2 12w1v2's in my Grand Cherokee on 300wrms in a ported box briefly....those things pounded for the amount of power I fed them.

ok, your making me freaking jealous. i have an L7. i had it in this tiny *** little ported box. i cannot wait to hear it after i throw it in a 2.0 cubic foot box tuned @32Hz. it better be a big difference, cuz it wasnt to impressive with that other box of mine.

Trust me......you will love it tuned that low. I had a box tuned at about 50hz awhile back.....it was a tiny *** ported box, and it sounded like a mid-bass speaker. Dropped the sub into a box tuned in the 30's and it pounds, goes low and has impact.
