Transmission Out: Rebuild/Buy New or Used?

So my transmission just locked up. Debating if i should get it replaced or just scrap the car and buy a new used car.

• 2000 Chevy Impala
  
• 101k Miles.
  
• Bought the car for 3k. 3 years ago.
  
• Already have about 2k in repairs.
  
• over 2-3k in caraudio/tints/ other misc. upgrades.
  
• Only a few hundred saved up ATM.
  

Opinions please?

Might check around junkyards and just see if you can get lucky first before you do something drastic.

are you sure it is completely out? flush ***** fluid and put in new filter?

This sometimes can just cause more problems.

Fluids are good. Filter was changed about a year ago.. or less.

Yeah my mechanic advised me not to change the fluid when he changed the filter.

i got a used ***** in mine. got it for like 60 some bucks at the junk yard. got a new TC, and new accums/spring and did a jmod with an aux cooler. has been solid since it's been in. it's in car #2 now.

it doesn't matter at this yard. it's a u-pull yard. you can get engines for like $135? ***** for 60 something. with 30 days.

Sounds like a place they have here in Louisville called pull-a-part.

same thing as pick and pull, but parts in alabama and lousiana are waaay cheaper than cali bro.

yeah we have pull-a-part too, but this was a locally owned place. barry's u-pull-it in mobile and gulfport i think?
