OK you still need to drop the ***** pan AND the diff cover in the rear. While it is possible on explorers its not very common for them to strip the spirder/pinion gears in the rear. Also if you find a rear end the ratio that MATCHES your front end ratio or say good bye to your 4wd. is it more likely your ***** as ALL older explorers at some point will have problems with the *****. Dont bother buying one from a junk yard unless it comes with like a 2yr warranty..and they never do.

fineline just took off the rear diffrential cover. As soon as i pulled it out the metal shaving's came out and the spider is fcked. i need a new rear end. ***** is fine cause shift's fine etc.... my rear end just gone. So im hoping to find one from my dad's friend.

Like stated you need to find a rear with the same gear ratio as you have now. Or get a new carrier and gears for your current rear and rebuild it.

All you have to do is look at your axle code that is written in the door jamb of your drivers door. Just make sure the one on your ex matches the junkyard one, and thats all there is to it.

nvm guys it's not the rear end fck. cause spun the tires around looked at gears and wasn't metal shaving was just debrie from when pulling off the gasket off the diff cover. even put the car up the rear tires were up and the tires even in reverse were not spinning with no load on it. so know can't be a bearing either. I did a pressure test also on all gears and all gears reading good pressure rpm's not droppping.

Its got to be your ***** then. You need to get it somewhere and get it diagnosed better. How are your u-joints and your rear end yoke..and the yoke on back of yours *****?

Well man just had a car haller pick up my truck today guy is checking it to see what it can be and got a diffrent ***** already that's sitting in my garage for it.

Well guy's so much for crossing my fingers. my other ***** is shot nothing left of it she's gone. gonna cost me $1200 to put a new ***** in my truck. FCK this sux.
