Well its time to get a new truck. I have a 2000 s10 ext cab 4 banger with 95,000 miles on it. Runs great, but i don't know if i want to sell it locally or trade it in. I know you usually get more money selling it out right but it takes time. I have a great deal going on a used dodge ram 1500. My question is my s10 has been throwing a fuel composition sensor code for about 3 years. Dealer says it cost about $650. Not happening... On Edmonds and on kbb it says my truck is worth about $3500. What is the dealer going to say and or give me if i want to trade them in a truck with a service engine light on?.... i have tried taking it to autozone and having them erase it only to have it come on 5 mins later.. so thats out of the question... your thoughts ..

I would watch out if selling to a dealer as a trade in. They will ask what you want for it and will most likely be accomodating to your asking price. But, if its more than what they want to pay they will re-work the figures of the other vehicle to make up for it.

trading -in a used truck is an *** ****ing, esp for 2009.......dealers will offer very little for your truck as the american vehicle has been devalued to it's lowest ever

If it were me id either fix it up and keep it or sell it locally

I would not be trading for a new truck just a one year old 1500 ram.. i think im going to try and sell mine and hope they still have the truck there when im ready to buy.

Is there an Autozone down street from the dealer? get it erased right b4 you trade it in. but ya KBB or edmunds just use the "trade in value" instead of private party; then take about 500-1500 off that and thats what you will get for a trade in

Dude I hate to tell you this, But working for a dealership in the past. They will always shaft you on the trade in. No matter what year it is lol.

Other than that you have to love the Cail Emission cars. If i remember that code is for a senor that meassures alcohol content in the fuel system. Its located along the frame rail on the left side up in the front. Has fuel lines going in and out. Look for it aftermarket Im sure you could get it for cheaper price than from dealer.

I'll look at that code tomorrow at work. What motor is in it Im think the 4.3 v6.

you try unhooking your battery for 30mins- hour. and see if it will temporarily clear itself.

Personally id hold on to the truck, s10s are cheap and dime a dozen. Hit up some junk yards if u know what ur lookin for

hell thinkin about it, u might even be able to take it to a tuner and they could just delete the code. And fairly cheap i bet, if they are cool enough 50-100. 200max
