Anyone ever play any of the trackmania games?
It's an arcade style game, closest thing i would compare it to would be the burnout series of games, but these revolve around short, obstacle filled tracks, and trying to set records, and beat times for the bronze/silver/gold medals.
It's got everything from dirt track moto-x type tracks, to snow levels, to something along the lines of a mclaren f1 burning down highway tracks.
It's not your typical racing game, tho. It's got all sorts of turbo-boost type 'arrows' loops, jumps, tunnels, hairpin turns, holes in the track, all sorts of stuff, it's amazing.
And once you beat all the solo levels, you can download user created levels from the trackmania networks, and when you play online, it's a 5:00 time limit, where everyone playing (it can be tons of people) just does as many runs as they can, trying to hotlap, and get the best time, and then it randomly selects the next track, and the person with the most points after 10 sessions is the winner, etc.
It's an amazing game. I've been playing the 3rd game in the series all DAY, it's called trackmania united. Definitely, definitely, definitely worth the money.
There's also a free online-only trackmania, called trackmania nations, if anyone wants to check it out.
And check out these ****ing graphics! It's the most fun game i've EVER, honestly, EVER played. I haven't even eaten since 2:30, i was getting to the point where i was so uninspired with video games lately that i didn't consider myself even a casual gamer, but this game is downright ADDICTING. I forgot how much fun it is when a game is this good.
Only thing i'll mention, is i was playing for the first few hours with my keyboard, and my hand was cramping up pretty bad using one hand (arrow keys) for the controls. I broke out my logitech cordless rumblepad, and then i was in bliss. An analog controller helps immensely, if you have one. If not, it'd be worth it to buy one for this game.
Check out these graphics //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif I only have an ATI 1300 pro pci-express card ($200 card) and it looks soooooooooo beautiful.
And you can't tell from the pics, of course, but the game is FAST. Like, sea sick fast.
