tower problems?

ok i have 2 towers and in them are 2 (5 1/4") speakers each so 4 in all and they sound ok but when u turn them up and the bass hits they make a loud "popping" noise and i have to turn them back down so can anyone tell me wat the problem is?

they are most likely bottoming out. ur exceding the limits of excursion thus it literally slaps the basket.

set the eq to flat and then try it again
