Toured Treo today

i work in america.. i can tell a.. american pride no longer exists. most of the people i have encountered (in a warehousing type position) "hate tehre jobs, dont want to be here, and dont get paid enough" i would rather not by american //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
sad, but very true. at least around here.

who, if any, are doing complete builds in the US? i didn't think anyone was doing the whole thing here.
no one is building completely in america. Except maybe some super high end home audio stuff, but we're talking car audio here.

Its just not cost effective to build anything in america. Our economy is a direct reflection of this, but im not even going there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

barring that.. r/t pimp, and memphis flex- you are both tool bags. sad treo lets retards like you be dealers:laugh:

There are alot of subwoofers built in the US.

T3

DD

Fi

Kicker

MTX

Acendant

Atomic

Incriminator

I am sure there are many others but thats just what came to mind.

Also, a few on the list do get parts from overseas, but a few others make all parts themselves.

Uhm... ID is made in the USA, as is JL Audio. If you want to call it something else if some components are made elsewhere, there are precious few products left anywhere that could truly be called 'made in USA'.

Our Ceelite panels are assembled in Taiwan, but all of the raw materials, such as Phosphor, aluminum foil, and copper, all come from the U.S. but legally we have to call it made in Taiwan. It is made in Taiwan.

Treo was a great name like 6 years ago. I have a couple 18" CXT woofers, when i tore them apart, i started laughing at the soft parts they used. If they are trying to make a come back and become a top name again, they have alot of work to do.

99% of audio "parts" come from asia or mexico. They may be assembled here though. Let the distinction be known. In china, you have some person assembling a speaker that he really don't give a shit about because he will never be able to afford the vehicle to install it in. In the US, the builder either loves audio or hates it, so you roll the dice with what you get. Either way, you could be screwed--//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

added one, there is also a few OEM's left in the US. I can name a few off hand //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Also some companies do still source parts here in the us

Cones and Spiders from Nuway

Coils from Precision Econowind

Also there are only 1-2 places in China to buy magnetized motors to be assembled here so I assume alot of companies just buy slugs and assemble here. Although a magnetizer is pretty expensive.

Nu-way does about 75% outsourcing now, which is why there parts ****. Econowind is a small part of a larger company, which is Chinese. When you order a large quantity of a certain coil, they come from china.

A cheap used magnetizer is about 50K.

You will be adding me to the list of US manufacturers within the month hopefully. Already have some people out there with the new woofer.

Ed, it would be sweet to cover a stripper stage with the Razorlite--hmmmm

Well I walked through where the magnets are cut out on a CNC and the magnets are magnetized. Cones come from Wisconsin. Dust caps are made there. I am sure the baskets are imported. Spiders I have no idea. He invented his own glue. Spiders are probably imported.

Anyway there is a few companies that pick pieces and have build house put them together for them or just flat out have the company build speaker with X brand on them.

Anyway for the old ones of us maybe remember a few key points. John held the world record for quite a while. In 1995 John was probably the first person to introduce the CRX into spl. He did a 153 with 1 12. Something else to remember the guy is 32. Anybody remember the wicked Hifonics amp, those would be John. Hell I believe he was designing and building amps before he could legally buy beer.

What the hell is your point?

I assumed everyone here was intelligent enough to understand yes a lot of parts come from overseas. I am not saying American company, I am saying American build house that does not OEM for others just themselves. I am just trying to share my experience, not saying Treo is the best or that they are completely American made. I have no idea how John is to his employees. Yes I do know some of his employees very well and they have nothing but good things to say about him. I was also trying to share how he was to me and my wife. Simply a real down to earth guy.

So I am blessed with your input. You certainly are brilliant. Your greatest accomplishment is that you pull out of your mom soon enough to not get here pregnant.
