Topic: Alpine cda-7998 or cda-9833

The 7998 does not have an internal amp just to let you know. But is a sick deck. I would take that over the 9833. But with either one you'd be fine but remember that you have to run a seperate amp for that 7998.

I was in a similar position and ended up choosing to purchase a 9830 because the phantom face was something I ended up not liking very much. I wanted a deck that had a completely detachable face because car thieves aren't always stupid. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Features wise they are pretty much the same.....all comes down to:

1) Whether or not you'll need an internal amp in the HU.

2) Whether you want BNIB w/ warranty or used

3) Whether you want detachable face or not

Personally, I'd go for the 9833 because of the BNIB w/ warranty. But, I'm anal like that

Besides the cosmetics and internal amp, the 7998 does not play WMA's. I would also choose the 9833 for the warranty as well. I'm just more weary of all the moving parts of the 7998.

yea 9833 simply because its new. The only difference i see is the display. The rest of the stuff like the internal amp (which you would probably use for like a month before you got a amp) and the WMA which is basically the same as MP3s. I dont see a difference between the two. So when you really come down to it its either a new deck or a used deck. same price.
