Toning Wires out

I was wondering if there was a device that I could use to tone wires out.

I am asking because I am using the factory speaker wires and the wires going to the speakers are not labeled positive or negative and I wanted to make sure that from the crossover positive goes to positive and negative goes to negative.

Would a Analog Multimeter work?

analog will work but your gona need a volatge source for it to test continuity. You can use a cheap ten dollar dmm for this. Almost ALL dmm's have the diode test function.

forgot that trick! yah use a 9 volt and hook it up to a old speaker and hit the wires till you hear a pop

small what kind of battery? LOL im pretty clueless with this thing.

I used to do cable and we had a toner that make a noise when we find the wire we looking for. we would put a device on one end of the wire and TONE the other end out.

aw man CA wireing isnt that complicated. Basicly you want to make a closed circuit on the wires to test them invidiualy with either a dmm, light, or speaker.

wow you have an analog meter? i didnt know they still made them... but anyways go get you a cheap *** dmm even if it doesnt have a diode or continuity test on it you can use ohms to find what wire ends up where or find a schematic for your car... you have a haynes manuel?(as much as i loathe haynes) they have wiring diagrams in there

Im not sure if there are ay manual out for my car. 2009 subaru legacy. radioshak sells analog ones

This many responses and nobody has asked if his analogue meter can measure resistance?

If it can you can measure each wire to ground so you can keep your polarity straight... or if it doesn't measure reistance, have a friend hole one side of the wires to a battery and you can find polarity that way if you need to.
