tommorow im off to meps

ya , we get to goto a hotel too.. a nice one in raleigh

i read the how to survive air force bootcamp thing... they said to awnser each question that does not end in yes or no with

"sir, trainee whatever reports as ordered ..." then whatever they asked you

i heard that there is no bonus for jobs that arnt "critical" but iwill give it a shot

what you heard is a lump of ****.

i have a friend who got $10k for a bonus just because she asked.

i got $4k for my bonus because i asked. im sure you could get one too - espically if you are just about to get in - and then tell them you want to back out. they need to make their quota. and they arelady spent a ton of monies on you.

so what are they gonna do? say no?

it'll be hard to get a bonus if the job doesn't offer one. just like re-enlistment bonuses, every job is differrent. the only way you get a bonus if you're job doesn't offer one is on how long you enlist for. if there is no bonus for your job check for a bonus on the length of enlistments. right after i joined they started a bonus of $2000 for 4 years and $4000 for 6 years. and yes, you are right about the answering questions, that's how you have to say it. and never kiss ass, you wont be happy if you do. just study what you have to, do good on your pt, and do what you're told and you'll be good.

You'll are a little off here. I'm an E-6 with 8 years in the AF. First, whatever job you picked should be in your enlistment papers--so that should not be a problem especially if you signed for 6 years. Second, bonuses are only given to certain jobs that are in need of people or are extremely difficult. I got $7500 when I came in and $15,000 last year when I re-upped for 6 years. Meps for the AF is a joke--yes you will be naked for a little while with 30 other guys and you will get your nuts felt and someone will look up your *******--o'well its one time. To the navy guy that said don't say sir---wrong. In the AF everyone hire ranking is sir or called Master, Senior, Chief Sergeant. In boot camp you are almost guaranteed to call your instructor Sir, and nothing else. Boot camp is what you make off it. Don't stand out, keep your mouth shut, learn the book they give you on proper procedures as fast as you can and you will stay out of trouble. If you have any other questions, let me know.

air force is not like that... ive already asked about that... you have to give the oath + sign up before you are given your profession...but on the plus side you dont really have to choose anything if what you want is not currently open... delayed entry program FTW
Umm, that's WRONG! Your recruiter must be a lying piece of crap. You get your job, then you take the oath. DO NOT do it the other way around, unless you want to work in the chow hall handing out fries, or become SF working the gate for 12 hours a day.

Oh, and I AM Air Force, 7 years down, 13 to go.

another tip for you is after you look up what bases you might want, check to see what command they fall under. cause if the base you want is one in a mobile command, you're getting deployed alot.
if you have any questions you might need answered i'll be glad to help you out. i was air force for almost 5 years, have worked for the military since getting out, and been thinking bout going back in. so ask if you want cause no matter what they might tell you, a recruiter does have a quota to make.

No matter what base you go to, you WILL deploy. At least once every 15 months for 4 months in the sand. Sometimes more.

And as for picking your base, you will do that at basic training. They will give you a list of all the bases with your AFSC, and you get to fill out a "dream sheet" consisting of 8 stateside and 8 overseas bases. They "try" to match you to your dream sheet, but they do not guarantee it. Just be glad Pope is being re-aligned, or you would more than likely end up here. 7 Life ******* years in this God Forsaken place, thank God I'm going to Little Rock in October!
