back in the day when I worked as a crappy helpdesk peon I worked with a lot of people that had "business degrees" who made the same awesome $8.75/hr that I did //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

your not going to get a job that pays real well unless you concentrate your major. If you do a regular business admin degree your screwed and sitting around 30-40k depending where you live. Focus on taxation, or financial planning or something of the sort and you can jump up to about 80k with a masters.

Well with something as prestigious as an AA in Buisness I'd imagine you would go straight to the top of Wall Street and exploit new, virgin, untapped resources and become wealthy beyond your wildest dreams. We might have the next Rockafeller or Biltmore right here on the forums of ca.com //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Friend of mine has a Master's in Finance. She worked for the company that owns Chili's and On the Border, sold off Macaroni Grill, etc. She did very well, think she was pulling 6 figures after a couple of years. Of course, she's a valuable employee and a motivated worker. She got shit done, didn't just coast through like most Americans end up doing (she isn't from here).

She got offers up to $200k+ last year, but she left anyways, moved back to her home country and is starting her own business, I think.

Bottom line is, you can get the same degree as 10 million other people out there and you will get the same $40k jobs mentioned above. But if you have a WORK ETHIC, go above and beyond what's expected or required for your job and find ways to make yourself a valuable employee (not just throwing fellow employees under the bus), you WILL get noticed, you WILL go far, and you WILL get paid. May take some time, nothing easy is ever lasting in the end. Put in the work, and you'll be rewarded.

as i said , it would be something to get more money coming in than what i was making (im currently unemployed).

I have a BS in Bus Adm (77), with 3 majors, Finance, Econ, Accounting, went into banking. had to start at the bottom of the food chain, and worked my way up through hard work and long hours, and lots of BS. It's different now than when i started out, you will have to be very aggressive, use lots of knives on co-workers, and then you may still be caught up in a downsizing restructuring cost cutting movement, you ready???? Back then, hard work, right answers and long hours got it done, now, way too much office politics and bs for me, left it behind in '01 and haven't looked back. GL in your adventure. you will probably see in a few years that the hard work, yada yada yada will not bring you happiness, and possibly be unemployed, do NOT devote your life career to your employer, they will expect complete devotion, but be vary wary of anything they tell you, always think "what is best for me", not them.

but 30-40k isn't enough to do very much besides the basics, if that, and only for yourself.

Get a masters, and jump into some corprate office as a tax nerd or something and work your way up/gan exp. Other than that and owning your own business that does well, your not looking at great pay.

*EDIT* your in NC, so expect less pay than 30-40k. up here in taxachusetts that doesn't go far.

Well considering you have the resources and capability to go get a Masters if you want while complaining about making less than $15,000 a year ... I would have to say asking about an AA is pretty "silly," if you ask me. Hell, why not goto graduate school and knock out a Doctorate while you're at it?

Look, my parents own a retail store selling electronics. They pay their employees better-than-average wage for their area. They hire non-college-educated folks off the street and pay them around $8.50/hr starting wage (believe it, this IS better than most places around there). They also pay well in bonuses for sales after 30 days.

They are CONSTANTLY re-hiring people.... it's ridiculous the horrid employees they get. One guy they gave chance after chance, paid him well (he was pulling in $12-15/hr with commissions) and he was late 60+ times in 6 months. No shit... and they run into this over and over and over and over and over... you get the picture.

Most employees don't last more than 2 months. They have 2 right now who have been long-term.... 1 for 2.5 years, one for a little over a year. The rest are an endless parade of shitheads, ****ing retards, lazy bastards who call in 3+ times in their first MONTH on the job, idiots who can't figure out how to make change for a cash sale, can't remember to get info on personal checks (you know, addy, phone, etc.?), or are constantly just forgetting how the breathe and choking on their own saliva till they die in agony in the middle of the store (made this up, but that's essentially how stupid most people are).

I just don't get it... how ****ing lazy and stupid most younger people are today. Pathetic.

And the spelling.... oh, God, don't get me started on these people's spelling....

One kid brought a phone back to my parents a few months ago for them to look at saying, "This guy says his phone is broken, every time he pushes this button it shuts off and you have to start it up again."

"That's the power button, Dave."

"Oh.... oh yeah. Well, I just didn't know if something was wrong with it or not."

SHEISSE.

Oh yeah, and when you go in to interview? Don't go in wearing flip-flops and a tank-top. Seriously. And PLEASE at least take a ****ing SHOWER... no kidding! These are repetitive happenings all the time.... not single incidents!

between me and my fiance (BA in accounting) , it would be enough to live. im unemployed and jobs around here are not the best. it seems the only way to get into any company and make decent money is with a degree. an AA is much better than nothing. i havnt signed up with anything yet. i was just curious as to what i could get with an AA.

not if i want , i could. not that i can or anything but it may be an option.

I'm about to finish my AA in december, most....actually almost all of the jobs I've been looking at require a bachelor's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
