ahhh i'm so confused. I've got an Avalanche goin in the trunk of a Nisan Maxima - I've been told I NEED to sound deaden or it will rattle.

I dunno what to do - how much to buy, etc.

Is it worth it? How much sq ft? Is 30 good?

Do I REALLY need to deaden the doors too?

eDead wasn't really in my budget.

Deadening is well worth the cost.

You dont necessarily have to do the doors now, wait until you upgrade those speakers, if you are keeping the stock ones for now.

Youll be glad you spent the money.

I ordered 60 square feet of eDead V1. I plan on 10ft for each door, 30 feet for the trunk, and 10ft for the trunk lid and license plate.

Sound good? I know it's only one layer, but it's really all I can afford.

I need velcro for securing the sub too. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I know what you mean man, I was jsut planning to do the doors and ended up getting $300 worth of RAAMAT and Foam. I hope it sounds awesome when I am done !

I would highly recomend you look into purchasing RAAMAT, it's 60 mil and is not tar based which saves you alot of work, you really should not need more than 2 layers, I used 3 directly behind the door speakers along with some foam on top.

DOes anyone have experience up sound deadening regular cab truck? Is it that much of a big deal? Nothings rattling all that bad. And i usually drive with the windows down. Just wondering if anyone had an opinion about this

I think you are going to find that all 60sqft is going to be used for the trunk, atleast most of it. As far as the doors I think you will find it takes 15-35sqft per door to deaden it properly. Not trying to be a downer, just don't get your hopes up to have that 60sqft do everything. Good luck and have fun //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Edit: Velcro= //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif If you get in an accident or slam on your brakes that velcro is worthless. Do yourself a favor and bolt your box down, or find a better way of securing it.

Dont want to make a new thread, so I will post here.

I drive a 1995 Saturn SC2.

In my trunk I have a 12" 05' Kicker CVR in a 2.0 cf ported box tuned to 34 hz.

Let me just say that my trunk rattles like a *****! Outside of the car, you hear absolutely no bass, just rattling! Inside the car, I feel like it sounds really good, although I am sure I am hearing some of the rattling inside as well.

Will sound deadener stop the rattling of my trunk? Will there be any other benefits?

As I basically have no money to get deadener, I am looking to cheapest alternative while still functioning. What do you guys reccomend? I dont want something that is going to melt or fall off my trunk lid.

HELP!

Welcome to car audio, leave your credit card at the door.
Isn't that the truth. Sound deading is worth every penny. Start with the trunk then work on the front doors. Id start with about 40sqft, and thats being nice, in reality it wouldnt hurt to have about 70+

The first thing I do to trunk lids is fill all of the bracing cavities with expanding foam. It keeps the sheet metal from flexing, also caulk all the seems for the bracing cavities. This will make a noticeable difference, add a layer or 2 of deadening then you should be good to go on your trunk lid.
