does it matter...

does it really matter which way the subs ultimately face? as most systems, they face rearward toward the trunk. is there a specific reason?

im ordering my ava15 this week, but ill have fitting issues if my box is set against my back seats facing towards my trunk...

so i plan on getting the box to fit (w/ no problems) by leaning it against my trunk and firing towards my back seats.

kind of a stupid question, but does it really matter if the subs face forward or rearward? and are there pros/cons to each method?

yeah it matters. every car is different and sounds very differently with subs pointing in different directions. firing toward the rear of the trunk is just usually what produces the most spl (at least to the ears).. but ive know cars to actually sound louder and cleaner facing into the car with the seats down or even with the seats up. its all dependent on the car.

so, knowing that, it would probably be best to test this before youget your box built. it would be best if you had an old sub laying around, or if you could convince a friend to letr you borrow one of theirs.. then you can play around with which way sounds best for your particular car. you may find that firing toward the back of the seat sounds absolutely terrible and results in lower audible spl.

Why not just put it in facing your seats, listen and see if you like it. If you like it why mess. Maybe it would be a little louder facing away but if you like it and are happy with it I wouldn't worry. If it isn't what you expected you can worry about what to do then.

Yep the best thing to do is try different things. In all of my setups the best sound has come from firing at the hatch, spl was always better with the port firing in the cabin.

well ill see how it goes.

how i intended to put my box (against my seats pointing rearward) became faulty once i realized i wouldnt have the space nor the hieght to fit my 15"

so i was just wondering if pointing my sub forward would have any adverse affects.

eitherway, thanks for the help.
