to cap or not to cap

Search on how to do the big 3 and do that. Replace your up front battery if you need to as well. Go with a Red or Yellowtop or something similar. I saw no benefit in usinig a cap at all. If gotparts needs one, i have one he can buy as well. a 3 farad Power acoustik. I read my voltages off my HU.

i've already done the big three a looong time ago =/

Your issue could be a bad ground, bad equipment etc. Could also be your battery. I would make sure my install is correct before I add to it.

just a 500/1 jl audio amp pushing a 10w7
what is the difference between getting a second battery and having a cap....cause wouldnt my alt still have to work to keep my second battery charged as well. so in the end is it the same??? (as you can see im confused on all of this)

wow great write up thats exactly what i believe...but for educational purposes it would be sweet if someone could tell me caps are so useless. i always hear the same "just get a second batt" and "do the big 3" or "get an ho alt" but no one ever explains what makes a cap so useless....

im going to remove my cap anyway just because im tired of looking at it and hopefully my WHOLE system would stop clicking off whenever im really starting to get into the song.

there is a ton of math that goes into explaining how cpas are usless. The skinny of it.

1. CAPS do not become effective until your voltage drops so low that your car wouldnt run any ways. the computer would shutdown.

2. caps store enough energy to power a calculator for a few minutes.

I think it came down to it from a scientist that the only way a cap could be effective would be 100,000 caps but that would only last you 20 seconds. BTW your car wouldnt be running.

yep they are close to useless they barely store any current I agree but I am looking to see if it does make any difference in keeping the voltage maybe 1/2 volt steadier. If it does in the long run it will be easier on the rest of my electronics they don't like voltage fluctuation. If this little 3 farad turd that been in my garage for ten years can do something like that i will be happy. Will it, I don't know.According to the math that was in that 20 page report it should help but only when there is enough current there already. If i was to buy something new to add it would be a battcap because of the low esr.

lol, no, apparently the cap does not stay charged by it self. its just static. so it constantly loses charge.. little by little SO ACTUALLY... it uses up a small amount of voltage.
