To anyone who knows A LOT about amps.

Now this may seem to be a stupid question to some of you, but it really made me think when some said it. I have 2 Alpine Type-X 12's that im putting in my car and i need an amplifier. I went to an audio shop and a man that worked there said that if i was running them at 2 ohms i would need a 2 ohm stable amp. ( 4ohm wired you need a 4 ohm stable amp and so on). Do i really need it to be 2 ohm stable or can i just get a 1 ohm stable mono block amp?
