to amp with no HU?

I just picked up a Zune HD and was curious if I can skip on the HU and somehow go straight to the amps with the Zune?

Thinking maybe mini jack to rca converter from the Zune to the amp?

or

Zune to line driver then to amps?

Did a quick look on Sonic and all I came up with is the line driver.

Any ideas on this?

Mini jack to rca would work just fine. All though I would imagine the rca voltage would be low. Which in turn would make you turn up your gain up higher and perhaps introduce more noise. I would run it to the line driver then to the amp.

He had not come to terms with reality of the fact that audio is an expensive hobby. Sad, but the truth.

The Zune will do everything I need (no cd skipping and FM) so I cant see spending 150 to 250 just to get the signal to the amps. Thought I would put that saved money to subs or a new front stage.

And...I dont think my dash is in any shape for another HU. Everything is cracked and all the bolt holes are stripped out thanks to a previous 4 sub install //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Get a line driver or something to up the preamp voltage from the rcas on the zune, then you're good.

looking @ eq's that have max 8 volt outputs. Found some as hi as 13 volts.

What voltage do I need to be looking for?

Well, I ordered this: Power Acoustik PWM19 1/2 Din Pre-Amp Equalizer : $46.95 : VMInnovations.com

Did a rough install to sub amp only to see how it works. Had to turn the input gains up but overall seems to work fine. Got the rest of the stuff in my sig below in as well. Hopefully I can start on the install weekend after next and really get a feel for things.

Got the Opti's installed as well as the Onx4.125. No problem getting enough voltage to the amp with the PA.

The Onx4.125 is really a great amp. Cant really say anything that has already been said. Will be getting a mono Onx series amp for my sub stage.

Was a little disappointed with the Opti tweeters. When I got them out of the box - had to put super glue the keep them together (speakers were ok - just the mounting hardware)

After the install - those tweeters are extremely bright. Started out with +3db and ended up @ -3db on the x-overs and they are still very loud. Looks like I got a lot of tuning to do. The 5.25 and 6.5 are impressive as well(almost as much excursion as my jl15W0 - lol).

Anyway, very happy with it. Not too bad for $350. (now I gotta figure out what to do on the sub end - idk.......maybe 6 10's)
