to all the guys that """"think""" any 8" sub will play as low as a 15" your so full of it. yes i will agree that some will but not all will keep the same SPL at the lower end. yes some will because they are made to not all subs are made for it.
GET IT THREW YALLS HEAD its the sub and box matched if the sub was not made to play that low it WILL LOOSE SPL.

And most 8"s aren't made for High SPL applications... which is why they can't keep up. Not to mention, and 8" driver most of the time has to have a smaller coil diameter, which makes it harder to withstand higher RMS power with out heating issues.

It's more like a "Because there's no need" thing than a "It won't." I'm sure you can make an 8" driver that can hit 150 db in the right enclosure... but no one needs to because that's just flat out ridiculous and unnecessary. The motor would probably be too big to be applicable.
