Tmob G1 kicks a$$

That's negligable. T-Mobile's 3g coverage is a complete joke. They shouldn't even be allowed to say they have a 3g network. Also, I don't knw why i would only work on T-mobile if you have a 3g card for another service (granted, I don't really know the specifics of how 3g works, but it seems to me that an unlocked 3g capable phone with a 3g sim card should get 3g coverage)
Wrong. AT&T's & T-Mobile's 3g network operate on different frequencies. If you were to unlock the G1, it'd work on AT&T's EDGE. This goes for the 3g iPhone also. If you unlock one, only the EDGE will work on T-Mobile. It's 3g will not work w/ T-Mobile. AT&T & T-Mobile are both GSM b/c they both use SIM cards. CDMA does not use SIM cards, i.e. Verizon, Alltell.

I understand that ATT and t mobile have different frequency bands for their 3g networks, but according to HTC's site, the G1 is a quad band phone that supports both 850 and 1900 mhz bands, which are the bands that ATT uses for 3g.

ahhhh, ok. I didn't know it was a quad band. I was just answering that if it really couldn't, that would be the only reason why.

However, now that I look at the site more carefully, it says that HSPA, which I think is the type of coverage 3g actually falls under, is limited to the 1700 and 2100 bands. Now I'm not sure. Granted, ATT doesn't have much 3g coverage in my area anyway, so I would probably be on EDGE most of the time regardless.

Ur dumb.....you can use the full internet plan on your t-mobile iphone all day long.....i have the full plan activated...and my buddy has a 3g iphone on the Att 3g network....we both opened the same pages at the same time and the loading times were almost IDENTICAL.....also using Tmobiles 599 tzones plan...it only loaded 5 seconds slower than the 3g iphone on the ATT network..... ATT=GARBAGE!
