I want to make a square box around the tire well in my trunk and seal it off to get around 5cubes, but my questions is, will it affect the sound if it pointing up like that? Also would it be possible to make it ported?

Is this a Mustang...?

I have a Mustang, currently my subs are facing cab... but I wanna re-build my enclosure. I did it poorly and I want to re-do it. Make it sound better, and maybe do an amp rack.

I was actually thinking about down firing.

The top being the sub box, the bottom being amp rack.

I'm not sure, I might try something differently.

But to your original question: I believe it will impact your car. But, depending on what car and your trunk will influence things. For instance, if you do have a Mustang and you have the same cheap flimsy trunk I have, it'll probably sound worse since all of the sound will slip right out of the trunk.

I have a very well isolated Toyota Camry, and am making the box bigger than the tire-well itself, I used the packing peanut method and I will easily get 5cubes. My only question now is, how can I make a box like that ported?

As for as the port, figure out the Cubes, then figure out how much port length you need (I recommend Aeroports, since I've noticed them to be somewhat shorter... but I think when you put more than 1 the port gets longer. Do some research) Just treat it like a normal box... except it fits into your wheel well.

Well its not actually going to fit into the wheel-well; but over it instead. I will build a normal box that is a little bit larger than the well and not make a bottom, then use some liquid nails and foam to seal it all off. I am just confused how to make a well working port in such an odd shape.
