I am running 2 JL w3 10's on a little 500 watt tma amp. I am very disappointed in them to say the least. I had pioneer impp subs back in the day that were a lot better than these, even on just 500 rms. Fast forward 15 years and they can't even match outdated technology. They were free so not a total loss.
What I have is a nakamichi deck, Old school German 6.5 Blauplunkts on a 75x4 rms butler tube driver. No rear fill as of yet.
What I would like is a good spl sub that will put out descent sql. It doesn't have to be perfect, just don't want it to mud out bad. I listen to mainly metal. I am thinking of a single 15 but am open to ideas. I would like to keep the sub in the $200 ish range or under. It is going in an suv so plenty of hatch area for the box. I would like it sealed.
I was thinking sundown or audioque. I am open to any ideas, not really up on the newer subs, especially ones that are not straight sq subs. Linking me up would be helpful if you have time. I just want something that will pound and still keep up with the fast kick of metal. Power will most likely be a hifonics hfi1500d. Rated 1x500@4, 1x1000@2 and 1x1500@1 ohm. I of coarse would listen to suggestions for an amp as well. Thinking of kicking the front components to the back and going with hertz hsk 165 high energy. I found some for around $150 or so new, the older design. If there are better components for the price please let me know as well. Sorry to throw everything on ya. But I would rather listen to folks who are in the know, it seems most of the old brands have gone to ****.
