Tire Question

I currently have four 215/45/17 tires and I was wondering if there would be any issues if I decided to go with 225/45 tires for the front (while staying with the 215/45 tires in the rear)

I have a FWD car

thanks
Is this for the 2007 or 2004 vehicle you have. Anyways. YES duh there is going to be a problem they are different sizes. Your ABS light will kick on. And Im sure other codes will set. You will be getting different speed ratings from your Tires being off. And If its the 2007 car. Im sure your low tire light will be one too. I got to look up somthin else about tire sizes and what you are changing too just the width or height as well.

You will throw off the abs system. Some abs sensors have a 10% window for error but with either of the cars you have in your sig not only will it throw off handling, in a bad way, it will also throw off your abs braking capabilities.

I doubt that little difference will set off a ABS code, but you don't want to put bigger tires on the front than the rear. Regardless of front or rear wheel drive it will negatively effect your handling.

You should be fine with the 225's on the rear though.

At 60mph, it'd be less than 1mph difference.

Yes, YES it will cause ABS codes. And If he has a TPS it will cause codes with that as well.

why would it cause problems on the tps? Thats on the throttle body. I suppose possibly if its fly by wire
TPS also means. TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR. And its going to cause problems. The AMP and Tire Pressure senor both go off that Wheel speed sensor. With newer cars tire sensor is located inside the tire. Him putting different size tires will cause problems. One tire will spin slower then the other. And both will expand differently as well in the summer and winter.

There are some cars out there that to get the tire light to reset each tire HAS to be at the same PSI. Some GM cars will allow a difference of mabye 3 to 5 psi in each tire. You do this to a GM car so fast will the ABS light will come on and Low tire light too.

Just out of curiosity, why the hell would you want to put taller wider tires on the front of a car, regardless of being FWD/RWD/AWD? Not only will it cause issues, but it will mess up the look of the car as well. Unless you just happen to have a set of these tires laying around, I just can't imagine why you would want to do this

TPMS, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, I believe is the correc moniker

True your right. But I thought by crazy chance ppl would get it just as tps being we are talking about tires and what was related to tires. But hey thought I could get away with it and keep it simple enough. Who knew some one would be like throttle position senor when we talking about tires.

To me this thread should be over with. The guy is smart enough to know not to do it. end thread.
