I'm considering just taking that $130 for the fine and getting legal put on, because I don't want to keep dealing with this over the next 4 or 5 years while I have this car. I'd hate to pay for 35% and it show below legal. But, considering that they give a 1-2% leeway, I think it'd be alright. I'm going to call a couple shops later and get quotes for removal & reapply. I wonder if the tint has to be completely removed before another layer can be put on. Anyone know this? I know that there are 2 layers to a tint, but dunno if that refers to the whole setup, or what...

Also, anybody here have a rough estimate of what it cost them to get tint removed?

your tint meterd @ 16% because the glass itself restricts light flow.The tint itself only allows 20% of light to pass through....then you add the light that the glass allows to pass through.

20% + factory tint? + dirty/aged windows = 16%

If you like the tint, and can afford the tint, keep it. If you don't, get rid of it. What do you need a poll for besides to stick in your mouth?

That's very vague. Don't be so happy yet...if they put into consideration nighttime driving, 20% will likely get you ticketed. It's hard as heck to see out of my windows at night unless I'm in a lit area. I usually have to roll them down.

I know its vague, but got to like the part about any film you like behind the driver.

Use the Quantum Stealth tint, I put that on my wife's car. It is at 18% to 15%, put it looks darker due to a slight reflection added in the tint. Looks pretty tits. You were just the bad seed for the day, the cop was trying to meet his qouta for the day, that is all. Just pay the fine, and keep your tint. Around here, if an installer installs 20% or higher tint, they incorporate their logo in the corner of the window for law enforcement reasons.
