Tint Law > Me....I hate Mondays

So, I woke up early to get to work early so I could leave early Friday. On my way to work I got pulled over for my window tint. It was a state trooper, not local police. I've had my tint since last June.

Legal Limit is 32%

I paid for 20%

I have 16% according to the cop.

I can't say I'm upset because I should've known sooner or later it was going to happen. However, I can't believe that it's 16%...

Regardless, I have the choice of paying the $130 fine and take the chance on getting pulled over again, or have the tint removed or increased and pay no fine.

It'll cost me $160 to get 32% put on like I have, plus $20 for lifetime warranty. I don't know how much it'll cost to get it pulled off.

I'm thinking about just paying the fine and take the chance. I have a couple friends who have done this and they haven't gotten pulled over a 2nd time....yet.

So, now I've gotta think of stuff I have at home to sell so I won't have to pay this out of pocket.

Did he pull you over just because of the tint or because of speeding or something and happened to give you the tint ticket? I personally would probably just leave it on and pay the fine. Are you happy with how dark it is now and do you think you will still be happy once it is lighter??

No, he pulled me over for the tint only. He was next to me for a little while, then pulled in behind me and pulled me over. I knew exactly why because I wasn't speeding (I use cruise control on long stretches all the time).

LIke I said, I'm not b1tching that I got pulled over because I knew what I was getting when I got my tint...I'm just bummed out.

I need a poll:

1. Remove

2. Pay fine

He?...who are you talking to?

yea, I know I'm making a thread about it. This is my therapy. You know you get mad at stuff even if you know sooner or later it will happen. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

shitty deal. i got about 35% all over now(factory) but i am doing 5% on the rear window, and back sides, and 20% on the front doors. hope this dont happen to me. i dont know what the law is up here in ontario.

edit, going to look it up now just to know.

got to love the laws here.

"Ontario - For the driver’s compartment, right and left, no film can be installed that would substantially obscure visibility from the exterior. Behind the driver’s compartment, any film can be installed. "

To me it would depend if it is a cop that I would see often, around here the same state police stick around the same areas most of the time. If a state cop were to get me for my tints I would take them off because I would just keep getting tickets.

That's very vague. Don't be so happy yet...if they put into consideration nighttime driving, 20% will likely get you ticketed. It's hard as heck to see out of my windows at night unless I'm in a lit area. I usually have to roll them down.

Yea...I dunno. I see state troopers around a decent bit, but who knows if it's ever the same guy or not. I have passed plenty numerous times and never been ticketed though.
