Time alignment

I was wondering if there was any way I could get time alignment to move my sub up with front stage without replacing my factory head unit or buying a dsp.
Frequencies pretty much go like this. (sub-bass)-bass-midbass-lower midrange-midrange-highs- very highs.

If you want your sub up front. Your (sub-bass)-bass-midbass-lower midrange. All need to be playing around the same loudness as well as hitting your ears around the same time. (time alignment).

if your subs are too loud or crossed too high, they pull your sub frequencies soundstage behind you. So what have you have to do is get a good door speaker with strong high bass/midbass. Deaden your doors and seal them up(thus improving midbass response), and try playing with where your sub and door speakers are crossed over at.

What you are trying to accomplish is too find where your door speaker plays their strongest bass/midbass(usually around 80hz) without distortion and then cross your subs at that point.

Then phase and polarity and crossover slopes come into play.

its alot trickier than most think. and alot simpler once you understand it all.

Don't know if it was said or not. Go to diyma and check out the thread "time aligning subs with measuring tape" or some **** like that. Tells you all you need to know

People who use time alignment on their subwoofer channel(s) are doing it because it affects frequency response in the range that interacts with the midbass speakers. What else affects frequency response really effectively? EQ. If you don't have a full-fledged DSP you use what you've got.

My bad. When the OP said "move the sub to the front stage" I thought he was talking direction, in which case I wanted to clarify.

didja even look at my reply?

wrong
Not wrong sir.

In almost every situation you TA based on furthest speaker away which is generally your sub. You delay every speaker to match that. Therefore you dont mess with the timing of the bass, but every speaker around it.

Also the lower the note, the less effective TA is on it.

Sounds like his midbass is extremely lacking and the root of the issue.
