Time Alignment T/A Delay, etc.

although i cheated, i just mirrored the Time Allignment settins inverse to that seat :/

you run tweeters up in the pillars, correct?

is your dash symmetrical?

What about your door install? In other words, is your car and the location of drivers EXACTLY symmetrical? If not, then simply reversing the t/a settings for the driver's side isn't going to give the same results.

also, did you flip your EQ settings? EQ adjustments result in phase shifts, too.

Am I late to the T/A party? I'm new to the whole SQ thing but have been learning a lot on DIYMA and through trial and error.

Do you use it?

Yes.

Do you care for it?

I love it.

What's your method(s)?

Running a 3way active setup, I turn off tweets and midbass and dial in the midrange in the kicks starting from the left side, then I work on the right side. Next I try and dial in the midbass the same way and finally the tweeters.

Any things to be done before the T/A process?

Install/Aiming, Xovers, phase, setting levels.

What are you trying to achieve (goals) with T/A?

A solid center image with good dynamics on either side of the car (background instrumentation) and to get that **** 7 drum track on the IASCA disc to sound good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif

I'm currently working on reading through this whole thread but I have a question. Using my Pioneer 800PRS which measures T/A by inches and cm's, in order to get a center image I always have to delay the further (passenger) speakers more than the drivers side speakers, is this a phase issue? When I check each individual speakers phase control they all seem to sound better on a normal phase and my left/right seperation of the speakers is fine as well. I worked on Zeusilicious's stereo tuning last night (Alpine deck) and his seemed perfectly normal as far as needing the driver's side speakers T/A'd more than the other side. Any ideas?

^^^ Thanks for helping me out bro! You know I bought all my sh!t like 2 years ago and now I'm happy. Tons of work yet haha

I'm going to start with this thread tomorrow lol

I'm not used to the Inches style T/A, but I believe you're suppose to dial in the distance of the speakers and the HU is suppose to calculate the delay. I never liked that style. That might explain why your passenger side settings.

No problem man. Once you start playing with the settings you'll NEVER stop tuning! lol

Yeah, I've been wanting to play with the T/A more but I only have midrange and tweets currently installed. Once I get my 8's, the box for my subs, and install the 3sixty.2 along with the 800prs I'll be camping out in my car for days trying to tune it.

Bring your *** up to OC tomorrow morning.
If I'm not too lazy tomorrow morning I'll be up there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

you run tweeters up in the pillars, correct?
Yes

is your dash symmetrical?
No, steering hump

What about your door install?
Yes, exact

In other words, is your car and the location of drivers EXACTLY symmetrical?
In small words, No

If not, then simply reversing the t/a settings for the driver's side isn't going to give the same results.
I know this, but it got me a good start. Keep in mind its not for me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Driver seat is always my sweet spot

Remember I dont have EQ level match, I cant just shift it.

Time alignment + passive comps + good/okay imaging = possible?

I don't recall if we discussed passive setups in this thread or not. Reading my own posts gives me a boner and all, but I'm not gonna browse the thread to check.

So for those of you that are running passive comps with T/A capable HUs, do you try to get some kind of imaging?

If so, I'd like to know what steps/procedures are taken.

Thanks in advance. You guys are awesome!
