Time Alignment T/A Delay, etc.

i think the thing thats hardest to fix is how far the drivers side speaker is... yes T/A can slow it down and allow the other speakers to reach you at the same time, but it still has the same amount of time to develop (if you know what i mean) with or without T/A... which tends to make the driver side speakers "violent comp air" get kinda peaky depending on where your head is positioned

I think I should have involved subwoofers to get more replies on what people think about T/A.

I wonder if people know that subwoofers can also be delayed. I wonder what's the purpose of having the capability of delaying subwoofers.

OH! it's making a little more sense how. boundaries. I see.

So, though you're delaying the speakers to where they're further, the speakers are still physically near you mounted in the doors/kicks/pillars.

So I guess that brings you to this point (with alpine's approach):

HEY that kinda looks like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:

Actually the 2nd picture isnt accurate either since equaling distances will move the left side out. Yes the center will be in front of the driver but theoretically the sound stage would be the uniform width on each side.

Just saying...

And since I know you are well versed in this being as you talk to 'mr sq' on a regular basis you must just be trolling due to boredom and Im ok with that.

I have both of my front speakers delayed .5ms

Which ones?

I do too. Somehow it has worked out to add like 3.4 to my L MR and like .7 to my R MR. But, my MR's are the furthest from me...so I guess my ears percieve almost as tough I've set up your basic home speaker cabinet, woofer on the bottom, MR in the middle and tweets on top. Thing is MR is actually lower than my midbass, so //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

I refuse to call him Mr. SQ.

boundaries.

let's say I only have two full range speakers up front. left and right. I wonder what would happen if I delay both of them at the same time, same increments, same delay, same distance. Would they both still have their signals me at the same time? would anything change? what if i flip the phase of both speakers?

on a side note, i'm happy to see my relatives during the holidays.

I dont call him that either but if he wants to be self-proclaimed then so be it.
Its not about boundaries, but rather a perception of boundaries.
try delaying the left speakers alllll you want.

go out there and try it. then play only the left speakers.

let us know how far they will extend out as you're delaying them. we'll still be here when you return.

You act like this is my first rodeo. But I assure you it is not. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

That's basically my setup. Like I said about, I'm passive, so I can only delay L & R, not individual speakers.....and both my L & R are delayed .5ms, in kickpanels which are decently close to equidistant (I don't have any difference in delay between L & R sides)
