Time Alignment T/A Delay, etc.

I would like to know how the eliteness of ca.com implements time alignment or your general thoughts about it.
Do you use it?

Do you care for it?

What's your method(s)?

Any things to be done before the T/A process?

What are you trying to achieve (goals) with T/A?

are you gay? (optional)

Just post whatever the hell you want about time alignment here.
PM me your aim info since me and you are both making threads about this. maybe we can help each other. nismos14 is on my aim and without him i wouldnt have got as far as i have with my new comps. much love and respect for nismos14

i really wish I got more replies on this. I really want to know how members here are implementing their Time Alignment feature of their head units or processors or what the hell they are trying to do. What exactly does Time Alignment do for your sound. that one guy said he used it to get "clear sound," but that didn't help me much.

Ill clutter the thread with some of my nonsense......

Over the past 6 months or so Ive been struggling to expand my knowledge on the subject of 'SQ' but Ive made some progress and have finally been coming around.

As far as T/A goes, Ive had the opportunity to play with it on my 9887 but since Im still in the progress of installing my most recent setup I havent dialed anything in for good yet.

Im running just a set of mids and tweets right now, so my T/A is just some delay on the left side.

Now, Ill sit back and hopefully get some enjoyment out of reading this thread.......or not

In the end you are just creating the listening environment for you. Any person you try to demo it to will not hear it the same way unless they are in the drivers seat and can actually wrap their head around what you were trying to present.

Do you use it? Yes.

Do you care for it? Yes, love it.

What's your method(s)? I measure the distance to my listening position from each speaker, and input into Alpine iPersonalize OR use the distance to time (milliseconds) conversion.

Any things to be done before the T/A process?

Usually aiming, xover points, level adjustment.

What are you trying to achieve (goals) with T/A?

Better sound stage, allow the sound to reach the listening at the correct/same time.

are you gay? (optional)

Occasionally.

I believe the use of T/A makes a night and day difference. Especially if you have a HU like an Alpine where you can set the DEFEAT feature on/off (basically turn internal processing on/off). If you correctly T/A, it improves your soundstage IMO, and mine seems pretty well centered and coming from the middle of my vehicle...

Myah.

measurement of normal head position to drivers. Some processors use distance, some use time. There are converters for distance-to-time. Go from there.edit: this isn't the lounge, keep your gayness there.
I have a Clarion DXZ785USB that allows TA adjustments by entering in the distance in cm b/w each driver and the listening position. I can change the distance in 2.3 cm steps (2.3, 4.6, 6.9 cm...)

Is there a formula that can tell me how much delay in milliseconds is actually applied for each step in distance? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Too much processing is like turd polishing....the more you do the shittier it gets
You gotta remember that this is car audio and not home audio... we're not dealing with one-seater cars either.

Also, mythbusters literally polished a turd.

Do you use it?

-Yes

Do you care for it?

-Love it

What's your method(s)?

-Tinker until it sounds good to me. I don't measure or do anything like that...so long as I get a centered stage, I'm happy.

Any things to be done before the T/A process?

-Get a HU with t/a, duh.

What are you trying to achieve (goals) with T/A?

Centered stage, balanced midbass.

are you gay? (optional)

What's your number?
