Throwing myself to the wolves

Ok, so I want to put a decent system in my 2008 F-150 pickup. It's a regular cab. My budget is about $1200. I'm more concerned about musical accuracy, not crazy volume levels. I am a home theater nut, but fairly new to car audio. Any shops in the Augusta, GA - Aiken, SC that are good to deal with, or to stay away from?

Thanks!!!!

For the best prices, buy online from a reputable dealer. If you elaborate on your system desires I'd be more than happy to assist you with your product choices. Do you want a new HU? Just speakers and a sub amped? As far as the install goes, I cannot recommend any shop to you, just be sure to ask around, and before you make your decision speak with the installers.

buy everything online to get the most for your money. we all do it. i havent payed retail price in years...post what kind of music you listen to, what your overall goal is and what all youd actually like to do and we have tons of members here that can help you.

Thanks for all the help!

I want to do the whole thing, hu, speakers, amp, sub. I have always been partial to Eclipse head units..had my eye on the 5030. Prob going to put JBL GTO components in the front and 6x8's in the rear. I used to do sound for concerts and i'm partial to JBL sound. As far as subs go, prob a JL 10'. I have a JL in my home theater and it's ridiculous. I have no idea on the amp. I'd like to keep things simple, a 5 channel seems to be the easiest to get everything wired up. I've been looking at the Hifonics ZXi 8006 but I'm open to anything. I'm most concerned about overall sound quality and reproduction. I listen to mostly alternative rock type music.

I will most likely upgrade the stock battery. 110 is the stock alternator. I think that should be sufficient????

Sounds like you're headed in the right direction, and know what you're looking for. At your price point, I can't argue with your choices. I fully recommend running the 5 channel, and yes, stock alt should be sufficient. Don't waste money on a cap, even if some dumb kid at the shop recommends one. Also, maximize your power and deaden your doors. Buying deadner on line is a good deal too.

Dr. Hertz you are insane if you thing buwalda is not a good recommendation for a good installer........He has built several world champion vehicles, not only that he also designed the speakers that went into most of those cars...I stand by my recommendation.
