Went with my buddies today to a local thrift store.

I/"we" got a Denon AVR-3300 home theater receiver for $20! The thing is still in great condition and works great. Also got a ton of numerous A/V cable and some big Sony speakers for $7 so we can use them for parties.

The car stereo stuff they had was lame Xplods and stuff but they did just get in an older Eclipse HU for $9 I was thinking about buying. Just a CD player, no iPod connection, but I am not sure about finding a wiring harness for it. But for $9 what have I got to lose? Think I should get it?

Sure as hell beats the pawn shops in the area, prices are too high and the car amps they had were all garbage. Plus the thrift store gives money to a local charity.

Have you guys gotten anything awesome at thrift stores?

Couple if things with those Eclipse decks, IF the ESN has been activated its locked out since it has not been hooked up to power. You will need to call Eclipse and shell out 25 bucks for an unlocking code.

Wireharness for those run about 15-20 bucks.

Eh, nevermind then. I forgot about that. My current deck is a Pioneer 690UB, I was thinking about just messing around with that Eclipse, but that is too much money for me to just have something I would never use.

Ask the store to power it up. Its quite possible the previous owner was smart enough to leave the activation CD in the unit when he donated it.

power it without a wiring harness? Don't think they would want to go through the trouble for a pawned stolen cd player for $9.

The audio section at my local thrift store consists of 20 watt 30 year old speakers and record players.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

LOL Poor people ITT.
Don't know if this is a joke, but I am not by any means poor. I'm a college student so I like to find things cheap, but there is some awesome stuff that people get rid of. Besides, I love shopping around for the best bargains. Save my money for other things.
