I use USPS Priority Service exclusively. I am fortunate in the respect that the employees at my local Post Office branch seemingly are competent in their jobs and every package I have ever sent through there *knock on wood* went exactly where it was supposed to go when it was supposed to go there.

I will not withhold shipping any longer than necessary but neither will I ship anything out before I know for certain I was properly paid and that the check/money order was not cancelled during the clearance process.
