Well, cross the 167E off your list, it wasn't really designed for a BLH. More at home in a mass loaded TL like a Voight pipe.

Out of the others, it basically comes down to how much sensitivity you need, how much output you desire and how much you're willing to live with a really sucky off axis response.

I bet your Denon receiver does at least 30wpc, so you don't need a very high sensitivity driver...you didn't include the 206E, but I wouldn't have recommended that one anyway as it sounds like a goose honking when you get off axis //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif To make it work, you'd need to either put a wooden phase plug right in the center of the driver, or use a hex socket to do the same purpose...actually, the FE166 could use the same modification and it would work well. The tradeoff in driver size is how well it sounds at angles to the driver, and the low frequency extension - another common complaint about the FE206's is the lack of detail in the highs, that the smaller drivers are more revealing up top. But the 8" gets lower than the other ones.

Out of those, I would choose the FE166, because it sounds relatively good out of the box, gets a lot better with some simple mods, and is efficient as hell. Going to be ear-bleeding loud with any serious amount of power, and really opens up your options if you want to go with a lower power amplifier (the FE166's will do well off power levels down to around 2wpc or so...)

And remember, for any of these drivers, expect to use a sub, because even in a properly-built BLH you're going to be lucky to get usable bass response down to 60-70Hz or so.

My two cents.

they look pretty fun to build to me...i dont really know too much about them, but what info are you searching for?
i was just looking for some people that maybe have used these or have more knowledge on this kinda of thing than i do.....i just don't want to **** around with crossovers or anything like that. I plan on getting into tube amps and all that stuff when i get the knowledge and money.

On that FE166 driver, what are some "simple" mods? On the plans they recommend 15mm wood and 21 mm wood.....im guessing the 15=.5" about and then 21=.75"? is mdf fine to build these out of or do i have to get plywood?

and what are those fin things on the back of the horn enclosure?
