Thoughts on XXX 12" ...

OK SPL WISE What are your thoughts on a RE XXX 12" In 2.5CUFT PORTED tuned to about 37hz fed 1200W - 1300W RMS. the reason I say 2.5CUFT PORTED thats the biggest I can achieve without some major custom work that would cost too much.

in a 1995 ford taurus btw.

I know some of these questions vary on several factors. but Opinions, I have asked many ppl around for sub suggestions in my small 2.5cuft space for maximum SPL and output, thanks in advance.

box is a lil small, but itll work nice. its really easy to set off car alarms.'

Hmm I know 2.5cuft is small but its big as i can get for a drop in box.. maybe a hare bigger //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif as long as it "DESTROYS" "KILLS" my last setup I will be happy for the most part. My last setup was an L5 15" kicker (yes good sub) but in a small small box was 2.4cuft after displacement small for a 15. But ya fed about just over 700W RMS.

I have my HC in a 3 cu ft box tuned to 47 hz. I've been told that 3 cu ft is idea for the 12" HC but I'm thinking 3.5-4 would work well too.

2.5 cu ft should be ok. I would guess at least 4 cu ft could fit into a Taurus with ease. I can get at least 4.5 cu ft in my Intrigue with ease.

Oops I didn't know it was a 15. That is small. I couldn't even see my HC in a 2 cu ft. box and its a 12". You may want to work on different box designs to manage a bigger box that will fit.

that and i was talking about an xxx hehe, well I will talk to local car shops to see whats the biggest they can get in for a drop in box.

I have dropped in a 3 cubic foot enclosure in the trunk of a taurus. All i had to do was take the plastic panel off the back of the trunk, and bend the truck latch down a tad. Its all in your enclosure design my friend. You could build a box that was bigger than 3 ft^3, and get it to drop in. Its all in how you design it.

Hmm some ppl say 1200W Rms is alright for a single 12 XXX but that its not getting tons from it, also about the box size, I will ask some car shops see what they can fit in
