Looking into getting a v star 650 custom, the midnight raven edition. It's gonna be my first bike so I'm not really lookin for a very big bike. Anyone got one or have opinions on them?

I bought a honda vlx 600 about a year ago, and rode the vstar...they are nice...what year?

its to little. yes i know you said this is your first bike but IMO still small unless your a midget. first non rocket i made dues with was a 900 vulcan custom. im 5'7'' 150 to give you an idea that im not a huge guy recommending a huge bike.

the benefit it has over most other "smaller" cruiser bikes is the shaft drive. very little maintenance and a good 5 speed. I just thought it needed more power which is why I chose the honda 600.

the vulcan custom IMO is an ugly bike that is even more underpowered per cubic inch than any other. I do like the belt drive though.

It's kinda small for me, I'm 6' 2" 180 so yea it's smallish but it wouldn't be to bad to extend the pegs out a little. besides that with all the hills in my area I'd like to have a smaller bike

and I rode my buddy's 650 classic before he wrecked it and it seemed to have enough power to me but then again I haven't rode that many bikes. I've rode his and a honda shadow 500 that's it

it will get the job done, although when you start riding long distance you will wish you had more motor.

how long of a distance we talkin? for the first year or so the longest I'd be riding it would be a couple hundred miles from home to school. I don't guess it'd be that bad but then again idk

I wouldn't buy a 650 new...they go ridiculously cheap used. If you can afford the 1100 I'd spring for it just to have more motor. The vstar's are great lookin bikes and you can do quite a bit of customizing to them if you ever get tired of the stock look/performance.

can't do it, my parents are gonna help me pay for it and they won't go with the 1100. I'm not really lookin for massive amounts of power and speed tho to be honest, just lookin for somethin to go out and cruise on
