Thoughts on Hifonics amps

[Why So Cereal? 5,000+ posts]

Basically, had a brutus...hated it! way too power hungry and my kicker amp destroyed it. it was the 2010 brz 1200 w amp. "cea compliant"

lately i've been looking at the xx line. but still not too convinced on the hifonics stuff.

what do you guys think?

need something thatll do around 1200 at 2.67 ohms. (3 dual 4 ohms sundown 8s)

Maxxsonics in general makes pretty iffy quality stuff if you ask me. Short term, they're inefficient and don't do rated power or struggle to do so. Long term reliability is absolutely horrible. At this point I won't buy them again and won't recommend them to anyone I know. Just from personal experiences.

I have ran multiple Hifonics amps, multiple diff Brutus series as well...my bxi1508d didnt do anywhere near rated, the 09 and 10 models were better, and the BRZ better still, but I would run a kicker before a Brutus...have never ran the XX line so I dont know on that account

I own a hifonics brutus bxi2610d and it does rated and is pretty efficient so I don't know I've had good luck with it and it sounds good too.

hifonics newer stuff does rated.. kicker does more than rated so I would hope that 1600+ watt amp would do more power at a couple hundred dollars more brand new

People bashing yet mb quart was and is a boner amp

Personally I would save more cash and buy a proven underrated amp

Ya but you are paying more.. you aren't really getting an underrated amp.. you are paying for what it does as it costs a lot more than an amp that does rated..
